Mizuno has a bunch of new stuff coming out this fall and among our most favorite clubs are the new MP-58 irons.
How sweet are those? Grain-Flow Forged (a fancy term for a very concise and pure forging), and with a unique titanium-filled muscle section, the MP-58s are built for players who want the best blend of forgiveness and shotmaking capabilities.
Why titanium? It's lighter, meaning the club can get away with more mass behind the ball for a soft, buttery feel. Also, the lightweight nature of the titanium means the perimeter weighting gets magnified (as well as the MOI), making each iron much more forgiving than they would be with no insert.
Other features include a rolled leading edge/flat sole/rolled trailing edge design (for better versatility on tough lies) and modified U-grooves that conform to 2010 USGA rules.
Look for these irons to hit golf shops this fall, and look for the complete Mizuno round-up in the next issue of Golf Tips.
